HOME Hospice
This year the Fiducian Charity Golf Day and Dinner raised money for two worthy charities.
One of the charities is HOME Hospice who support caregivers and families with loved ones
living at home suffering from a terminal illness. With over 64,000 Australians living with a
terminal illness at any one time, and while most would prefer to remain at home until the
end of life, only one in five does. The HOME Hospice Community Mentoring Program helps caregivers
and their families fulfil this wish through providing a trained Community Mentor to offer
guidance and support during this time of need.
Lou's Place
The other chosen charity for this year's Charity Golf Day and Dinner was Lou's Place.
Located in the centre of Sydney city, Lou's Place is a daytime centre for women -
women who need a hand in putting back together lives that have crumpled under the
pressures of abuse and neglect. At Lou's they can eat, take a shower, seek counselling
or just feel safe - safe from isolation, ill health and the dangers of the street or their own homes.
Since opening its doors 11 years ago, Lou's Place has received over 40,000 visits.
