- South Maroubra SLSC gain $1500 sponsorship from Fiducian
South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club has a new life-saving surf-board, thanks to a $1,500.00 sponsorship from Fiducian Financial Services Randwick.
Greg Woods, who’s Fiducian’s planner at the practice, says he’s thrilled to be sponsoring the club. ‘South Maroubra SLSC does a fantastic job – no lives have been lost, between the red and yellow flags, whilst a patrol has been on duty,’ he says. ‘It is a privilege to be supporting such a fantastic group of people,’ he says. Greg’s involvement with the club also goes beyond this sponsorship, as his daughter is on patrol most weekends whilst she works her way to achieving her Bronze Medallion life-saving qualification.
In addition to the $1,500.00 sponsorship, Greg Woods will be holding information events for club members and affiliates. The first will be on Wednesday 9 March, with a discussion on ‘Planning Your Child’s Future’, in the Heritage Room at the SLSC.
With more than 1,000 members – including former NSW premier Bob Car and former Randwick City Council Mayor William Haigh – the club has hosted major lifesaving events including the NSW State Championships and the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Surf League.
- Celebrating Camden’s Centenarian’s Luncheon
Once again Leasa Collins from Fiducian Financial Services Macarthur, NSW sponsored and attended the Camden Meals on Wheels ‘Celebration of our Centenarian’s Luncheon’.
This annual event is held in honour of locals who have or will reach the age of 100 or higher that year. This year, Ida Whiteman will be 102, she has attended since turning 100 in 2013.
- Eric Priebee volunteers at Vision Beyond AUS in Nepal
Fiducian Southern Highlands Financial Planner Eric Priebee, travelled to Nepal at the end of last year to volunteer at Eye Camps for the poor and needy. He helped screen 6000 people of which 226 received free cataract surgery.
Whilst there, Eric visited the Vision Beyond AUS Reiyukai Eye Hospital in Banepa just outside Katmadu. He got to meet the doctors and nurses and see the new Vision Beyond AUS funded phaco-emulsification machine. Thank you and great work Eric!

Fiducian is delighted to announce its Sponsorship of Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club (PBSLSC) in NSW. The Club is a voluntary, non-for-profit organisation located at the southern end of Palm Beach established in 1921. The Club improves beach safety for the local community and beach-goers and its members provide voluntary patrols on weekends and public holidays.

Fiducian continues our sponsorship of promising Basketball players Jacinta and Harry Pinkerton who play for the Newcastle Hunters Representative Program in the NSW Basketball Eastern Junior League. Jacinta represents the Under 16 Women as a Forward and Point Guard and Harry represents the Under 14 Men as a Point Guard. Both Jacinta and Harry have had outstanding seasons, both recently winning their Grand Finals.
Having taken out the Championship game they have both qualified for the NSW State Cup to compete against the other metropolitan and regional champions from all over NSW. Fiducian are proud to support these young athletes and their dedication to continued success in their sports.

- Hear the Young Fiducian Lions Roar
Fiducian sponsors an under 15’s Futsal team, the Fiducian Lions. Futsal is a short-form version of soccer and growing in popularity in Australia. The ‘Fiducian Lions’ had a great 2013-14 season, finished in the top 4 and qualified for the ‘Joma Champions League’ which they went on to win. Congratulations to the entire team, we are very proud of you.
- Fiducian Caboolture Charity Golf Day
The Fiducian Financial Services Caboolture (QLD) Charity Golf Day was held in March at Pine Rivers Golf Club in support of the Leukaemia Foundation. 90 golfers took part in the day, which was followed by a fundraising auction. The day was a real success and raised over $8,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
- Fiducian Annual Charity Golf Day and Dinner
Despite a wet start, the 2014 Fiducian Annual Charity Golf Day and Dinner was a great success. The golfers sloshed their way through 9 holes and then dug deep at dinner to help us raise over $78,000 for the charity Vision Beyond AUS. - Computers Donated to Fiji
Rather than discard obsolete computers, Fiducian has donated and shipped our old computers to Fiji in support of Sydney Rotary international projects. The computers will assist the Fiji Department of Health in modernising and improving their systems.
- James rides for the Day of Difference 2014
James Bucknell, FFS Bondi Junction, took part in cycling 888 kms in country NSW over 5 days from 26-30 March 2014 to raise funds for the Day of Difference Foundation, which supports critically injured children. Learn more about the Foundation here.
- Investors Mutual Donates $10,000 to Vision Beyond AUS
Mr Anton Tagliaferro, Investors Mutual Ltd (IML) donated $10,000 to Fiducian supported charity Vision Beyond AUS. This will allow approximately 350 people to be able to see again.
Fiducian is a major sponsor of the charity which was launched in 2011 with the support of The Rotary Club of Sydney. Vision Beyond AUS is an Australian-registered charity. It provides free eye surgery and clinical care to restore the sight of the impoverished and disadvantaged of the world, irrespective of their race, religion, culture or political persuasion.

Adi Laxmi is a woman who lives in Southern India, she was desperately poor and totally blind from macular dystrophy of the cornea in both eyes. A face of confusion and fear has now, after two corneal transplants carried out by Dr Sunil Thangaragh and funded by Vision Beyond AUS (VBA), turned to joy.
She has been able to go out and find work to support her disabled husband and her daughter has been able to return to school. Her self esteem has reappeared and life is worth living again. As a family, their lives are transformed.
She asked the surgeon who restored the sight in both her eyes, “Does God live in this place you call Australia?”
- FFS Deakin sponsors young Futsal team
FFS Deakin sponsors a young Futsal team, the Fiducian Lions, which has seen great results on the field. Futsal is a short-form version of soccer and growing in popularity. The team finished in the Top 4 and qualified for the ‘Joma Champions League’. - Australian Cyclist Chloe Hosking
We were sitting on the edge of our seats as Fiducian sponsored Canberra road cyclist Chloe Hosking cycled her way to winning the Drentse 8 in the Netherlands on the 9th March. Chloe edged out Italian world champion Giorgia Brozini and Dutch star Marianne Vos in the final 250 metre sprint at the end of a 141 kilometre race. The race covers a figure eight course in the Dutch province of Drenthe and despite many attacks during the race none succeeded in staying clear and it came down to a fast bunch finish for race honours. Winning such a big race really improves Chloe’s chances for London later this year. Having supported Chloe for many years we were thrilled for her success and look forward to watching her future successes. Congratulations Chloe!
- 2011 Fiducian Legends: Australian PGA Senior Championship
The 2011 Fiducian Legends: Australian PGA Senior Championship was won by Peter Fowler. From 27 to 29 October, Peter Fowler battled it out at Killara Golf Club on Sydney’s North Shore against golfing greats including David Hill, John Clifford, Michael Clayton, Rodger Davis, Lyndsay Stephens and Wayne Smith.

Working with Australian and in-country specialist surgeons and medical practitioners who generously volunteer their time and skill, VBA currently operates free clinics in India, Nepal, Myanmar and Cambodia. They also provide training, any necessary medical/surgical equipment, and undertake local hospital facility refurbishment, to enhance their capacity to effectively treat the needy in their community. To date the charity has been mostly supported by fundraising conducted by Fiducian and administered entirely by volunteers, so every cent raised can go to saving sight. It aims to restore the sight of 100,000 of the world’s poorest people…and then keep going!
